He proudly served six years in the United States Army as an Airborne Paratrooper, completing three combat deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy.
In addition to his military service, JR dedicated 15 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Red Bud Fire Department, where he served as President and oversaw the department’s business operations. He has remained actively involved in his community, serving on the City Planning Commission Board, an HOA Board, and as a Lifetime Member of both VFW Post 6632 and DAV Post 69.
